"Being alone is good."
Society wants to teach us that being alone is good. However, science has already shown that comforting social interactions activate the release of beneficial hormones. These hormones, such as oxytocin, often called the "attachment hormone" or "love hormone," promote feelings of trust, security, and well-being.
In this time when many of us are working remotely and are physically distanced from one another, it is more important than ever to stay connected and cultivate positive social relationships. Whether through virtual meetings, regular email exchanges, or simple phone calls, let’s take the time to nurture connections with our loved ones.
Positive social interactions can activate the ventral nervous system, thereby helping to regulate our emotions and improve our well-being. We all have in our hearts those moments when we throw ourselves into the arms of our best friend or those moments of conversation with our best buddy.
In polyvagal theory, social relationships are seen as an essential element of emotional regulation and psychological well-being. Together, we can create a world where everyone feels supported, loved, and valued. What do you think?
Sending love from my ventral to the world,
Carmen
